RIDER Training SCHOOL

Compulsory basic training (C.B.T)

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is a legal requirement for all prospective motorcyclists. You must hold a valid CBT before you use the road or take any further training. There are 5 parts to the course: • introduction and eyesight check • on-site training • on-site riding • on-road training • on-road riding You move from one part to the next when your instructor is happy you’ve learnt the theory and shown the practical skills to a safe basic level. Whilst at the training site, you will be introduced to the basic machine controls and maneuverers. You will then practice mock road situations to develop your understanding and ability. The on-road riding part will last at least 2 hours. During this session you will demonstrate all of the skills learnt during the on-site session. You’ll get a Certificate of Completion DL196 when you successfully complete the course. This allows you to ride a moped or light motorcycle on the road with L plates, dependant on your age. You must pass your theory test and full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years otherwise you’ll need to complete CBT again

Theory Test can be booked and practiced online at; https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test
